🌙 FOUNDATIONS OF MOVEMENT

Posture

Posture is the foundation of all movement.In this lesson, you will learn how to align your body in a way that supports balance, strength, and ease. Good posture reduces strain, protects your joints, and allows movement to feel lighter and more fluid.When posture is supportive, your body works with you rather than against you.

Weight Distribution

Understanding the Shimmy

Understanding how your weight shifts is essential for balance and control.This lesson focuses on grounding through the feet and learning how weight transfer creates stability and fluidity. Proper weight distribution helps prevent injury and allows your movements to feel intentional rather than forced.This is where confidence in movement begins.

Planes of the Body and Isolations

This lesson introduces how the body moves in different planes and how isolations are created.

You will learn how to separate movement between body parts so that hips, chest, and other areas can move independently. This awareness builds coordination, control, and clarity in movement.Isolations are a key foundation for bellydance and embodied movement.

Warm Up

This warm up prepares your body for movement by gently waking up the muscles joints and nervous system. Taking time to warm up helps reduce strain increase mobility and create a sense of safety in the body especially if these movements are new or unfamiliar. We move slowly with intention so your body can adapt build trust and feel supported before going deeper into the practice.

Learning to Move Each Part of the Body

This section breaks down beginner movements by body area so you can build awareness and confidence step by step.

Hips

The hips are central to bellydance and embodiment.

This lesson focuses on hip movements: lift, drop, slide, and circle. You will learn how to generate movement safely and smoothly while staying grounded.Hip work helps build lower body strength and body awareness.

Chest

Chest movements bring fluidity and expression to the upper body.

In this lesson, you will explore chest lifts, drops, and slides while maintaining relaxed shoulders and breath. This builds upper body mobility and coordination.Chest movement also supports posture and breath awareness.

Arms

Arms frame the movement and create grace and presence.

In this lesson, you will learn how to move through snake arms with ease, control, and intention. Snake arms teach you how to soften the shoulders while maintaining strength, creating fluid pathways through the arms and hands. This arm work helps connect the upper and lower body into one cohesive, flowing movement, allowing the dance to feel expressive, grounded, and alive.

Head

Head and neck movements add softness and flow.

This lesson focuses on smooth head slides that enhance expression without tension or strain. You will learn how to guide the head with ease, allowing the movement to feel supported, controlled, and naturally integrated with the rest of the body. Head slides add subtlety and emotion to your dance while maintaining balance and flow.

🌙 How to Practice

You do not need long sessions for this work to be effective.Choose one or two sections to focus on at a time.
Repeat them consistently.
Let your body learn through practice rather than rushing ahead.
Progress comes from repetition and presence.
